Personal footprint or business footprint?

A personal calculator estimates emissions associated with your home and travel. A business calculator organises activity around a company’s reporting period and operational footprint. Choose the tool for the boundary you are trying to measure; the two totals answer different questions.

What information should you have ready?

Energy bills, fuel records and travel details are a useful starting point. Choose a consistent period, record quantities in the units requested, and use actual consumption where you have it. A calculator applies emission factors to that activity data to estimate greenhouse gas emissions.

What does CO₂e mean?

Carbon dioxide equivalent, written CO₂e, expresses different greenhouse gases in a common unit based on their warming impact. Your footprint may be shown in kilograms or tonnes of CO₂e. One tonne equals 1,000 kilograms.

What happens after the calculation?

Look at the largest contributors first. Consider whether the data is complete and where an estimate could be improved. Use your findings to choose practical reductions, then calculate again over a comparable period to see what changed.

For a business that needs more categories, historical comparisons or contributions from several people, explore the small-business options and Sustrax MX.
